“To me writing songs is a universal language of sharing feelings. A modality in which to connect to the heart".”
Songs arm me with the power to communicate the feelings I have, that sometimes words alone are not enough to say. I write songs about things that move me, shape me and change my human experience. I write songs about the things I find to hard to speak about. When I sing through them it’s like they are alchemised and somehow by magic transmuted, they then become easier to carry around
My influences are singer songwriters of the 70’ 90’s and 2000 eras- I’ve left out the 80’s because they were too teckers for me…..
Artists like Tracy Chapman, Jewel, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Cat Stevens, Bob Marley, Fat Freddys Drop, James Taylor, Nick Drake, And pop indie bands like Crowded House, Coldplay, Oasis and Travis.
When asked what is my musical genre , I find the question a funny one to answer…
“I dance around soul, pop, folk, roots, acoustic spaces but then when forced to tick a box on things like streaming services or applications I land on Contemporary- meaning relevant and popular in the present day. I have grappled with these mould fitting questions my whole life as I sit outside of the curated boxes in society…”

If I could coin my own genre on my own terms - I’d go with Tropicana.
It makes me smile, its fruity, palatable and warm and sweet - and very memorable - all things that resonate with my style…
Anyway - Tropicana isn’t a box yet, so shall we make that happen?
Maybe I will.
